Recently we have been invited to some Western riding events. Never one to shy away from a challenge we jumped at the chance to take photos at these events.
Western Riding, is very popular in the UK but is not well publicised like dressage and show jumping. Western seems to be very relaxed and the riders have some amazing costumes and stunning horses.

On the first event we covered Western Pleasure and Trail. It was fantastic to watch, and even better to photograph. This event was held at the Garden of England Circuit in Bodiham, a great venue with a huge arena.
The second event we covered was the British Reining Championships. Where the Western Pleasure is more sedate and ‘showy’ the reining is very fast paced. With competitors following a set pattern they had to ride the horse to the patters, which also included a spin and a slide. The slides on the sand in the arena made for some outstanding photos.
We had a fantastic couple of days, and cannot wait to go again to get some more photos of amazing horses and riders.
